Sims-Stackhouse Mansion 1511 Laurel Street
Built before 1853 for James and Eliza Rebecca Sims, this imposing mansion once sat within the middle of the block (where 1517 Laurel rests now) and looked rather different. In 1909, Columbia banker T. B. Stackhouse bought the property. The South Carolina Federation of Women’s Clubs has maintained it's state headquarters here since 1934.
